‘Young Fashion Designers Mobile Video Contest’

For the next edition of Open Art Week, which for the autumn has scheduled a series of initiatives in Italy and Tunisia, the ‘Young Fashion Designers Mobile Video Contest’ was established in partnership with the Italian Cultural Institute in Tunis; a project conceived to connect independent spaces and artists around the world. 

‘Experimentation’, ‘living and acting in the world to come – new visions and ideals’, ‘sustainability’, ‘local know-how’ are the guiding themes of the competition, open to creative talent under thirty, who must submit short fashion videos recorded on mobile devicesThe ten finalist videos will be part of a collective online exhibition curated by Open Art Week and will be broadcast through the channels of Open Art Week, the Italian Cultural Institute in Tunis and the project partners in November 2020. A jury of fashion experts will award first and second places in the competition. The initiative is produced in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Tunis, the Tunisian-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and internationally renowned design schools.

Open Art Week is a project created to connect independent spaces and artists around the world. Launched in 2018, it has connected more than sixty cultural organizations in Italy, Tunisia and Eastern Europe; it has facilitated the international mobility of over one hundred creative artists; it has promoted five weeks of independent art in the partner countries of the project and more than one hundred music, theatre, film, dance, visual arts and educational events open to the public, reaching over 50,000 people.

In 2018, Open Art Week was recognized by UNESCO and the European Cultural Foundation as an initiative that has had a major impact on the cultural and social transformation of the Middle East and North Africa. 

The 10 finalist videos will be chosen by 10 October 2020. The winners will be announced by 9 December 2020. The award ceremony will be held by the end of December 2020.
