‘M’illumino / d’immenso’ – Mexico City

The Italian Cultural Institute of Mexico City presents the third edition of the International Prize for poetry translation from Italian to SpanishM’illumino / d’immenso’, established in 2018 and organized in collaboration with the Swiss Embassy in Mexico, the Laboratorio Trādūxit and the patronage of the Libraries of Rome.

Participants will have to translate two poems into Spanish: ‘Gli ireos gialli’, by the Italian poet Luciano Erba, andLa carta delle arance’, by the Italian-speaking Swiss poet Pietro De Marchi.

The competition is open to translators from any country and speaking any variant of Spanish. The winner will be awarded: 10,000 Mexican pesos (about 500 euros); enrolment in a course at the Italian Cultural Institute of Mexico City; books by Swiss poets and writers offered by the Swiss Embassy in Mexico; a week’s stay at the Casa delle Traduzioni in Rome; annual subscription to the Mexican Association of Literary Translators.

The awards ceremony will be held on 22 October at the Italian Cultural Institute in Mexico City, on the occasion of the XX Week of the Italian Language in the World .

The first edition (2018) received 119 translation proposals from sixteen different countries; the second edition (2019) had 109 applicants from fourteen countries.
