The course lasts 13 weeks, for a total of 40 hours and is divided into lessons of three hours each week, from 20 September to 18 December. The required language proficiency level is B2/C1.
In this course we will analyze the principle elements of narrative: the elaboration of a theme and the development of a story, the types of conflicts and objectives to be achieved, the structure of the plot and its turning points, characterization, the description of the setting, the role of dialogue and its various applications, and finally the question of style and literary genres.
There will also be exercises to be carried out between classes.
The lessons will be given by the Italian essayist and writer Alessandra Fagioli, professor of performing arts at the Academia di Belle Arti di Roma, who has published articles and essays of literary, theatrical and film criticism, as well as several novels.
