“Archaeological research for historical reconstruction and heritage promotion”. Italian contribution to excavations, research and studies within the archaeological Missions in Turkey.

13th Edition of the Conference of the Italian Cultural Institute in Istanbul

A long-term consolidated event of great scientific value and of primary importance for cultural diplomacy between Italy and Turkey will take place in Istanbul, at the Italian Cultural Institute, on 17-18 November 2022. This event is widely recognized by the authorities of the two countries and by the scientific, academic and cultural community at international level.
It is an opportunity to compare the results of the excavations and field research carried out by Italian archaeologists who, together with their Turkish colleagues, work on the vast cultural heritage scattered throughout the Turkish territory. The precious partnership and training activity carried out by the Italian archaeological Missions will be promoted, as they cover chronologically almost all the fundamental periods of human history, from Prehistory and Protohistory to the Paleo-Assyrian and Hittite ages, from the classical Greco-Roman period to the Byzantine era.
In Turkey, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation co-finances, through the DGDP – Office VI, thirteen archaeological Missions for the year 2022. These will be the protagonists of the Conference in Istanbul.
