Cultural tours of Naples, Procida and Neapolitan life run by the Italian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv.
Towards Procida 2022
Under the motto ‘culture doesn’t isolate’, from 1 January 2022 Procida will be the Italian capital of culture for a whole year. The Italian Cultural Institute of Tel Aviv invites you to discover some of the thousand aspects and secrets of Neapolitan culture, through a series of online meetings on Naples, Procida and Neapolitan life curated by the journalist and writer Nello Del Gatto.
The first event entitled ‘Napoli InCanto’, scheduled for 10 March, 2021, is an opportunity to retrace the history of Neapolitan song, a story of stories: men and women, but also legendary tales. Stories with a single setting: the city of Naples. From ‘Jesce Sole’ to Pino Daniele, as well as the people who made this popular music great such as Salvatore Di Giacomo, Libero Bovio, E.A. Mario, Raffaele Viviani, Renato Carosone. A journey moving forward in time, highlighting the peculiarities, the artistic and pioneering value of Neapolitan songs compared to world music.
Nello Del Gatto, journalist and writer, is a correspondent in Jerusalem for AGI and author and presenter for Radio 3 Rai.
The next meetings will be held on Wednesday 7 April and Wednesday 19 May.
The meetings are held via Zoom and are conducted in Italian.
