‘Artlink! Farnesina’ by Luca Rosa is now available after its presentationlast 29 October, during the last edition of the Lucca Comics & Games Festival, the major Italian event dedicated to the world of comics, illustration, board games and video games. On that occasion, it was selected as the winner of ‘Gioco Inedito 2021 – Best new Game Proposal contest‘ during the festival’s closing ceremony, at the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca.

‘Artlink! Farnesina’ is a card game about the Farnesina Collection created by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with Lucca Crea s.r.l and the DV Giochi publishing house. Luca Rosa’s project was selected by a jury of specialists following a competition in which over thirty prototypes were presented. This year the jury had the Director of the Egyptian Museum, Christian Greco, as special President.

In ‘Artlink! Farnesina’ the players (from 3 to 5) are called upon to set up exhibition routes with works from the Farnesina Collection based on certain themes, with varying degrees of difficulty. The aim of the game is to get the other contestants to guess the themes. ‘Artlink! Farnesina’ allows you to try your hand at the typical challenges of a curator’s work. It invites us to reflect on art and to make connections between paintings, sculptures, installations and photographs, playing with images and the different meanings each work conveys. In this way, it constitutes an innovative tool for talking about contemporary art and creates a dialogue with another creative field, namely game design.

The game was showcased during the Lucca Comics & Games Festival, which was attended by the author Luca Rosa, the art historian and museologist Anna Villari, Artribute journalist Giorgia Basili, as well as Francesco Di Lella for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and Tiziano Antognozzi for Lucca Crea. The showcase of the game is now available on YouTube.
