The XXII Week of the Italian Language in the World now has a subtitle: ‘Come scusa? Non ti followo’. In fact, the competition ‘Invent the title of SLIM 2022’, with which MAECI involved Italian state and peer schools abroad in the elaboration of a proposal that would interpret in an innovative way the theme chosen for this edition: ‘Italian and young people’, has come to an end.
Students from over thirty classes from twenty schools took part in the initiative, for a total of 80 titles submitted. Of these, eight finalists reached the table of the Jury in charge of the selection, which met on 30 May and was composed by Maeci together with the traditional partners of language promotion abroad (Accademia della Crusca, Centro per il Libro e la Lettura, Consiglio Generale degli Italiani all’Estero, Ministero della Cultura, Ministero dell’Istruzione, Ministero dell’Università e della Ricerca, RAI Offerta Estero, Società Dante Alighieri, Treccani). The winner was the 2 L girls and boys from the Italian school in Montevideo, coordinated by their teacher Anna Monini.
Their proposal, ‘Come scusa ? Non ti followo’, was convincing for its ability to combine, with irony, the demands placed on the Italian language by the constant renewal of youth languages, with the idea of the incommunicability experienced by the same generation of ‘digital natives‘, to whom this edition of SLIM is expressly dedicated.
