The Library and the Historical Diplomatic Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation open their doors to the public with a guided tour on Thursday 23 June 2022 from 3 p.m. onwards.

Starting from the Library, the tour will take visitors to get to know and admire some ancient volumes, specially selected to illustrate the historical and philosophical evolution of modern European ‘Ius gentium’.

Following this, in the reception halls of the Farnesina Palace, a selection of documents from the Historical Diplomatic Archive will be illustrated that tell of significant moments and stages in the history of Italian foreign policy, illustrating the richness and value of the Ministry’s archival heritage.

For security reasons, three guided tours will be organised in the afternoon (3:00 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.) for a maximum of 20 participants each.

To join the initiative, please write to biblioteca.mae@esteri.it specifying the preferred tour time. If the maximum number of participants per time slot is reached, participation will be offered in another slot or in a future edition.

The visit will last approximately one hour.

Visitors are recommended to get to the Passi office at the Olympic side entrance 30 minutes in advance. The use of FFP2 masks will be mandatory for the duration of the visit.
