Letting young people have their say: ‘Come up with the title for SLIM 2022’ competition
In the European Year dedicated to young people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is will be letting students of Italian schools abroad, the core of the Italian Education System around the World, have their say. They will be the protagonists of the XXII Week of the Italian Language in the World, which will take place in October 2022 and will focus on the theme ‘Italian and young people’.
With the ‘Inventa il titolo della SLIM 2022’ (Come Up With a Title for SLIM 2022) competition, the Ministry is inviting students to express themselves and get involved, creatively and personally, to develop proposals from which the actual title of the event will be chosen.
In fact, this year the festival aims to promote the language of young people and explore the ways in which contemporary Italian and communication are evolving through the new generations, agents of change in a language that is increasingly creative, vital and innovative.
The call for proposals is aimed at students at Italian secondary schools abroad, both state and private, who are asked to use a proposed title to illustrate the theme ‘Italian and young people’.
The deadline for submitting proposals (to concorso.slim@esteri.it) has been extended to 25 May 2022. Each proposal may be submitted by one class or several classes under the guidance of a contact teacher.
The winners will be awarded during one of the events of the XXII Week of the Italian Language in the World and will receive a prize in books, provided by the Società Dante Alighieri and Treccani, as well as the opportunity to be involved in a Rai Italia programme. They will also have the opportunity to make a short video on the theme of the Week, which can be used to promote the event.
The call is being promoted by the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with the main partners of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, namely the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, the Accademia della Crusca, the Centre for Books and Reading (CePeLL), the General Council for Italians Abroad (CGIE), the Italian Encyclopaedia – La Treccani, the Dante Alighieri Society and Rai Italia.
