From Hamburg and Vienna, two initiatives to get to know more about the novels nominated for the prestigious literary prize.

The Italian Cultural Institutes of Hamburg and Vienna have launched two original initiatives to present the 12 books in competition for the 2021 Premio Strega, giving a voice directly to the authors. The finalists are:

  • Andrea Bajani, Il libro delle case (Feltrinelli)
  • Edith Bruck, Il pane perduto (La nave di Teseo)
  • Maria Grazia Calandrone, Splendi come vita (Ponte alle Grazie)
  • Giulia Caminito, L’acqua del lago non è mai dolce (Bompiani)
  • Teresa Ciabatti, Sembrava bellezza (Mondadori)
  • Donatella Di Pietrantonio, Borgo Sud (Einaudi)
  • Lisa Ginzburg, Cara pace (Ponte alle Grazie)
  • Giulio Mozzi, Le ripetizioni (Marsilio)
  • Daniele Petruccioli, La casa delle madri (Terrarossa)
  • Emanuele Trevi, Due vite (Neri Pozza)
  • Alice Urciuolo, Adorazione (66thand2nd)
  • Roberto Venturini, L’ anno che a Roma fu due volte Natale (SEM)

‘Strega da ascoltare / Strega zum Hören’ (Strega for Audio) presents readings aloud by the authors in the competition on the VOX IIC Hamburg podcast channel, put together in collaboration with the Bellonci Foundation, with the publishing houses 66thand2nd, Bompiani, Einaudi, Feltrinelli, La nave di Teseo, Marsilio, Mondadori, Neri Pozza, Ponte alle Grazie, SEM, Terrarossa and with all the authors.

‘Strega da leggere / Strega zum Lesen’ is an ebook (in Italian and German), available from 31 May, featuring the original text opposite the German translation of extracts selected by authors, produced in collaboration with the Bellonci Foundation, with students and professors from the Centre for Translation Studies at the University of Vienna and with the publishing houses Verlag Klaus Wagenbach, Verlag Antje Kunstmann, 66thand2nd, Bompiani, Einaudi, Feltrinelli, La nave di Teseo, Marsilio, Mondadori, Neri Pozza, Ponte alle Grazie, SEM and Terrarossa.
