On the occasion of the Italian Design Day 2021, the Italian Cultural Institute of Istanbul presents the online cinema review ‘The peculiarities of a good project’, curated by the Milano Design Film Festival.
The review, which starts on 29 June, runs through the narrative trend of design, its creative processes and its industries, focusing on those designers who have experimented with countless styles, leaving their mark: from Giò Ponti to Ettore Sottsass, from Tobia Scarpa to Antonio Aricò to Lina Bo Bardi.
Through watching the short films and films that are presented during the review, we hope that viewers in Turkey will be able to grasp the true meaning of Italian design and the impact it has in imagining ever new development scenarios, able to set itself the central goal of improving life and safeguarding the planet. On Tuesday 1 July, at 9.00 pm (local time), the Institute organized a streaming event: Carlo Gandolfi, architect and university professor, talks with Salvatore Schirmo, director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Istanbul and Silvia Robertazzi. Simultaneous Italian-Turkish translation is provided.
The events are part of the fifth edition of the ‘Italian Design Days’, which will be held in Turkey from 29 June to 8 July 2021, with the aim of promoting the variations in Italian design and Made in Italy and to encourage interaction between companies, scholars, experts and trade associations active between Italy and Turkey, in the sectors where design can be applied and manifest itself as excellence.
