To celebrate the conclusion of the celebrations organized around the world on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s death, the Italian Cultural Institute Sydney & Vicinity QBV presented In Viaggio con Dante, a highly original musical journey of the Divine Comedy divided into three moments: Hell, Purgatory and Heaven.

This legendary journey was told by a suggestive multidisciplinary performance that was held inside the iconic and eclectic QVB. A particularly significant performance that recalled the journey of life and, in this historical moment, which finally seems to herald the end of the Pandemic, the glimpse of the Stars of Heaven.

The evocative music – played by piano and string quartet – was the setting for the mystical journey from the gloomy Hell to the celestial Paradise, while gentle Gregorian chants accompanied the audience through Purgatory. The powerful voice of famous actor Grant Lyndon recited iconic lines from the songs of the Divine Comedy.

The music was performed by the Italian pianist Mauro Colombis, the violinist Beatrice Colombis, the award-winning emerging ensemble Cousin Quartet and the Christ Church St Laurence Choir.
