On the occasion of the fourth edition of Fare Cinema, the Italian Cultural Institute of Washington, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy, presents ‘Tornare‘, the latest film by Oscar nominated director Cristina Comencini.
The film, starring Giovanna Mezzogiorno, one of the most famous and successful actors on the contemporary Italian scene, takes place in Naples in the 1990s. The story revolves around Alice, a forty-year-old woman who, after living in America for several years, is forced to return home for her father’s funeral.
Following the online screening, there will be a conversation with the director led by Francesca Calamita, an Italian teacher and specialist in film and gender studies at the University of Virginia, the university campus where Comencini shot the Oscar nominated film ‘Don’t Tell’ (2005).
