On September 24, the retrospective exhibition ‘Acqui – Milan – Sofia‘ by the Bulgarian-Italian artist Alzek Micheff opens in Sofia.
The great ‘return’ of the artist to his homeland, with the exhibition of over 140 works of art, was organized on the occasion of his 80th birthday. The project is carried out by the National Gallery in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute Sofia and the ‘Doma Art Foundation‘. Ivo Milev and Boryana Valchanova are the curators. The exhibition will be open until November 21, 2021.
Alzek Misheff, Bulgarian by birth and Italian by adoption, is a descendant of an ancient family of iconographers. Graduated from the Sofia Academy of Fine Arts, he left his homeland in the early 1970s, establishing himself as an artist internationally.
Painter, conceptual artist, performer, experimenter, musician, and lecturer: the retrospective dedicated to him testifies to the avant-garde spirit that has always animated Micheff’s creative genius, and the special place that painting occupies in the context of his creations. .
