The Italian Cultural Institute of Algiers is celebrating the second edition of the “Jil Cilima” Days of Film Criticism from 27 September to 3 October with the network of the European Union National Cultural Institutes (EUNIC).
The Italian Cultural Institute, as a partner member and President of the EUNIC cluster in Algiers, is pleased to announce its contribution to the event with an online training on film criticism for students and professionals in Algerian cinema. ‘Film criticism from theory to practice presented by the Italian journalist and professor Andrea Cimento’ is scheduled for 27 September and ‘War and cinema, between art and propaganda presented by Emanuele Rauco’ for 3 October.
The aim of this training is to analyse the tools useful for a careful and in-depth reading of cinema, projecting images and sequences extracted from various contemporary films, illustrating the fundamentals of current film criticism.
Andrea Cimento (1985) – PhD in Culture of Communication, at university he is adjunct professor of Institutions of History of Cinema (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan) and of Histories and Scenarios of the Image and Audiovisual at the MICA Master (Master in Management of the Image, Cinema and Audiovisual, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan).
Emanuele Rauco (1981), deals with film and television criticism for ‘La rivista del Cinematografo’ and ‘Il Sussidiario’, collaborates with various internet sites, newspapers and magazines, edits radio programmes, film reviews and festivals.
