The Italian Cultural Institute of Helsinki presents a double date, 22 and 24 August, with Antonella Anedda, one of the most important contemporary Italian poets.

The author presents the anthology ‘Anatomioita‘, a selection of her poems in Finnish translation by Hannimari Heino.

The opening event of Poetry Moon, Poetry Mixtape, presents a wide selection of poems recited and performed, perhaps in surprising ways, by local and foreign poets. Antonella Anedda and Hannimari Heino recite poems from ‘Anatomioita’ in Italian and Finnish.

Antonella Anedda (b. 1955) is an internationally renowned, award-winning poet. She has published six poetry collections, prose essays and translations. A graduate in Art History, she received a doctorate from Oxford University and an honorary doctorate from the Sorbonne University for her poetry. She teaches Italian Literature at the University of Italian Switzerland in Lugano.

Antonella Anedda’s poems were translated into Finnish in the anthology Miten paljon teistä täältä näkyy – italialaista nykyrunoutta 1960-2000 (edited by Hannimari Heino, Nihil Interit, 2006). Hannimari Heino’s collection of translations, ‘Anatomioita’, published by the publishing house Parko, presents Anedda’s poetry over a period of thirty years.

Hannimari Heino (b. 1963) is a Finnish translator and poet. She has published three poetry collections and two epistolary works together with the poet Kristiina Wallin. Since 1995, Heino has translated numerous contemporary Italian writers such as Gianni Celati and Claudio Magris into Finnish and published three anthologies of Italian poetry: Haudattu Satama (1996), with poems by Giuseppe Ungaretti; Miten paljon teistä täältä näkyy- italialaista nykyrunoutta 1960-2000 (2006), dedicated to contemporary Italian poetry; and the selection of poems by Eugenio Montale Tuo minulle auringonkukka (2018), for which she received the Flaiano Prize for Italianism.
