As part of the Breaking Walls Dance Film Festival, an event dedicated to the visual and performing arts, the Italian Cultural Institute of Cairo presents the screening of two documentaries dedicated to classical ballet and choreography.
Programme
- 22 September 2021 – ‘A Footnote in Ballet History’ by Hesham Abdel Khalek: the establishment of the art of classical ballet in Egypt under the aegis of the state during the Cold War is at the centre of an extraordinary saga, narrated here by its early pioneers.
- 29 September 2021 – ‘Trixie’ by Bastian Genoux: a heartfelt portrait of Trixie, an extraordinary woman to bear witness to her experience as a dancer and choreographer. Her personal experiences reveal a fascinating life, lived alongside great icons and personalities of contemporary dance.
The screenings will be held at the Theatre of the Italian Cultural Institute.
