On the occasion of the VII Centenary of the death of Dante Alighieri, the Italian Cultural Institute in Montréal, in collaboration with the Regional Association of Umbra, presents the video concert, created, performed for the first time and produced by UmbriaEnsemble for the Institute.
‘And so we went out to see the stars again’ is scheduled for Saturday 24 April 2021, at 3.00 pm (Montréal) /9.00 pm (Rome), and will be broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Institute; this will be a live concert (live recording) with three musicians from the UmbriaEnsemble (viola, cello and piano).
The original music was especially composed for the event by Fabrizio De Rossi Re, Lucio Gregoretti and Mons. Marco Frisina, all well-known composers on the contemporary Italian music scene. The performance will see the musicians and narrating voices reciting some of Dante’s verses in Italian and French, which were the source of inspiration for the music.
This project is one of the events developed by the Italian Cultural Institute in Montréal, in collaboration with the Center d’études médiévales of the Université de Montréal, McGill University and Concordia University, to celebrate the VII Centenary of Dante Alighieri’s death.
