The Ministry of Foreign Affairs opens its doors on 12 October for the annual edition of the Contemporary Art Day (Giornata del Contemporaneo), an initiative that celebrates Italian contemporary art, now in its fifteenth edition. Promoted by the Associazione dei Musei d’Arte Contemporanea Italiani, with the support of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and for Tourism, the Day involves all contemporary art museums and collections subscribing to the event – including the Farnesina Collection – offering free admission to all visitors.
Volunteers from the Touring Club Italiano offer guided tours of the Ministry’s rooms and contemporary art collection. The Farnesina Collection includes more than 470 works by over 200 artists of the highest level in the history of Italian art of the twentieth century, on gratuitous loan from artists, collectors, gallery owners, foundations and museums.
For the second consecutive year, in addition, the Contemporary Art Day is also celebrated abroad, with the aim of promoting Italian art in the world thanks to the engagement of Embassies, Consular Offices and Italian Cultural Institutes, which from 7 to 12 October are organizing events, debates, presentations and exhibitions on the theme of contemporary art culture.
