On the occasion of Contemporary Art Day 2021, the Italian Cultural Institute of Tel Aviv and the Center for Contemporary Art (CCA), directed by Nicola Trezzi, are organizing the artists’ discussion ‘Fake Views‘ with Eva and Franco Mattes.

Eva & Franco Mattes (both born in Italy in 1976) are a duo of artists based in New York City . Operating under the pseudonym 0100101110101101.org, they are counted among the pioneers of the Net Art movement and are known for their subversion of public media. Their art deals with the ethical and political issues that have arisen due to emergence of the Internet.

During the talk, an overview of their work will be provided which, as writer Randall Packer wrote, “has uncovered all the facets of digital life – the awkward, the narcissistic, the unabashed, the crass, the voyeuristic, the insipid, the heartless and the plain stupid,” revealing the very essence of our hyper-connected lives.

After this, they will talk about their latest work, ‘The Bots‘, which sheds light on the largely anonymous workforce of content moderators that has been formed with the rise of social media.
