The exhibition ‘Diva! Italian Glamor in Fashion Jewellery ‘, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is on display at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts realized through the initiative of the Embassy of Italy in Amman and will be open to the public from January 31st to 26th February.
The splendid collection of more than 200 pieces – curated by Alba Cappellieri, professor of the Milan Politecnico and Director of the Jewellery Museum of Vicenza – tells the story of Italian fashion jewellery, and with this of the evolution of style and social transformations and cultural heritage of the country from the 1950s to today.
The exhibition, created by POLI.design, illustrates the fruitful intertwining between stylists, costume jewellery makers and independent designers, showing how quality does not simply derive from the preciousness of the materials but from the intangible value of craftsmanship and innovation. From the years of La Dolce Vita through prêt-à-porter, up to the new millennium, the masterpieces of Italian costume jewellery lead the visitor to the discovery of fashion jewellery, underlining the creative solutions and refinement typical of one of the areas of undisputed Italian excellence.
