The Irish National Opera continues its collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Dublin with the aim of spreading lyric opera belonging to the Italian tradition.

The next production of 2022 is ‘Maria Stuarda’ by Gaetano Donizetti.

On 30th May Irish National Opera artistic Director Fergus Sheil, together with journalist and musicologist Michael Lee, will explain the context and behind-the-scenes of bringing this opera to the stage: a story of two queens, one catholic and Scottish, one protestant and English. One jailed at the other’s will. A fascinating journey in the Italian as well as global musical culture.
