On Friday 3 December 2021, the Vice Consul of Italy in Chongqing Adriana Lori took part in the opening ceremony of the exhibition ‘Eccellenze italiane. La nuova generazione degli illustratori italiani per ragazzi’ (Italian Excellence: The New Generation of Italian Illustrators for Children) at the Tianfu New Area (Chengdu, Sichuan). Present on behalf of the local authorities were the Deputy Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the City of Chengdu, Mr. Huang Tao, and the Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Office of the Tianfu New Area, Mr. Li Bo.
‘Eccellenze italiane‘ presents the works of twenty young Italian illustrators, chosen from among the most prominent talented individuals, and created with manual, digital or mixed techniques, which demonstrate the originality and creativity of our country.
‘Eccellenze italiane’ is an original project from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Emilia-Romagna Regional Authority, created by Bologna Children’s Book Fair/BolognaFiere. The stopover in Chengdu was made possible thanks to the Consulate of Italy in Chongqing and the support of the Foreign Affairs Office of the City of Chengdu and the Management Committee of the Tianfu New Area.
‘Eccellenze Italiane. La nuova generazione degli illustratori italiani per ragazzi’ will be on display at FANG · FUN Art Space from 3 December 2021 to 2 January 2022. The exhibition will be open to the public from 10.00 to 17.00, from Tuesday to Sunday, with free admission.
The exhibition ‘Eccellenze italiane. La nuova generazione degli illustratori italiani per ragazzi’ was previously exhibited in October at Yangtianwo square and the adjacent Yongfeng Primary School in Dujiangyan, home to the UNESCO site of the same name in Sichuan province.
The two stages of ‘Eccellenze italiane’ are part of the ‘Chengdu-Europe Culture Season 2021’ cultural events programme which is curated every year by the Foreign Affairs Office of the city of Chengdu. The schedule includes a series of cultural events, free of charge, including live concerts, film screenings and art exhibitions. The aim is to strengthen cultural exchange between Chengdu and European countries. Italy is taking part in this year’s edition as Guest of Honour, with a rich programme of cultural events as part of the ‘Road to 2022 Italy-China Year of Culture and Tourism’.
