Over the decades, its screens have projected films by the true greats of Italian cinema, from Ettore Scola to the Taviani brothers, from Francesco Rosi to Claudio Caligari, and in more recent editions the festival have rewarded young female talent of contemporary cinema, such as Alice Rohrwacher and Francesca Mazzoleni.
The Festival Annecy Cinéma Italien, now in its 39th edition, returns from 27 September to 3 October. The festival has reinvented itself and this year offers a hybrid formula with films screened in the theatres and other free screenings streamed for viewers in France and Switzerland via an online platform.
In collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Lyon, the Festival also proposes a secondary section to promote the development of new audiovisual projects, in co-production between Italy and France, thanks to Alpes Film Lab.
