To celebrate the publication in France of ‘Mon adolescence trans’ (My Trans Adolescence; Massot, 2022), Josephine Yole Signorelli, aka Fumettibrutti presents her moving graphic novel on the theme of trans-identity.
The author presents her book on 5 May at the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris, in conversation with Tito Faraci (Feltrinelli Comics), one of the most important Italian comic writers, moderated by Claudio Curcio, director of the Comicon festival in Naples.
Born in Catania in 1991, Josephine Yole Signorelli, aka Fumettibrutti, is a rising star in Italian comics. With direct, harsh and unsettling texts and drawings she narrates the reality and dreams, often disillusioned, of her generation.
‘Romanzo esplicito’ (Explicit Novel; Feltrinelli Comics, 2018), her literary debut, was acclaimed by critics, not just of comics, winning her the Premio Micheluzzi for best first work. This was followed by the graphic novel P. La mia adolescenza trans (Feltrinelli Comics, 2019), which earned her the Premio Gran Guinigi di Lucca as best newcomer, ‘Anesthesia’ in 2020 and ‘CenerentolA’ (CinderellA) in 2021. Again for Feltrinelli Comics, she wrote a story in the anthology ‘Post Pink’ (2019) and she was the editor of ‘Sporchi e subito’ (Dirty and Right Now; 2020).
‘La Mia Adolescenza Trans’ has been sold in Spain, France and Brazil.
