On 26 May, the Italian Cultural Institute in Montréal will present a choreographic performance by Giovanfrancesco Giannini and the Körper company entitled ‘Cloud’.
Along a path made up of digital flows, images and videos, the performer accompanies the audience on a journey through their data archive, in their individual memory.
The scenic space opens up to reality, connecting to remote geographies in an authentic media fresco that incorporates and attempts to return all the information: the body becomes the witness and medium of the contents that the database shares following flows of movement that crystallize into images, giving life to a personal choreographic archive.
‘Cloud’ it is a reflection on the politics of images, on the media representation of bodies and the violence against them, and on memory as an archive of data, real and virtual, in motion.
The work is inspired by the manifesto of queer communism and the reflections of Georgy Mamedov and Oksana Shatalova, radical activists from Kyrgyzstan.
Giovanfrancesco Giannini was born in Naples, class of 90. His works have been presented in numerous festivals and ‘Cloud’ has been selected for Tanzmesse 2022-open studios, NID platform 2021-open studios, DNAppunti choreografici 2019. The Memories project in collaboration with the artists Fabio Novembrini and Valentina Zappa is among the winners of the Crossing The Sea 2019 call. 2020 is among the Italian artists selected for CRISOL, a project for the internationalization of creative processes funded under the Boarding Pass Plus 2019 program promoted by MiC.
The Körper company was founded in 2003, with regional recognition since 2004 and ministerial since 2014, the Körper company is characterized by the work of production and support for the emergence of young choreographers and young artists from Italy and the Campania Region; above all a work of enhancement of young choreographers residing in the area or who have left the area on a personal journey that has led them beyond the borders of our country.
