The KotorArt Festival, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Podgorica and the Italian Cultural Institute of Belgrade, presents a tribute to Dante Alighieri on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of his death.
The festival, one of the most important artistic events in Montenegro, now in its 20th edition, takes place from 14 July to 13 August at various locations in the Boka Kotorska Bay.
The multimedia event ‘Dante 700’, on the forecourt of the Our Lady’s Church in Prčanj, aims to present the work of the Supreme Poet to the public in a contemporary way and to highlight its influence in Montenegro. The choice of the place is not accidental: on the forecourt of the Our Lady’s Church there is a statue depicting the bishop of Kotor, Frano Uccellini Tice, author of the first complete translation of the Divine Comedy in the Serbo-Croatian language.
The important literary, artistic and musical influence of Dante’s work over the centuries will be illustrated by Antun Sbutega, Sara Lakičević, Dolores Fabian (recitations), Antonia Vučinović (soprano) and Vuk Sandić (guitar) in an agenda rich in narrative, poetic, musical and video content.
