To mark the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri, the Italian Embassy in Belgrade and the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade are presenting the exhibition ‘Hyper-modern Dante. Dante’s illustrations around the world 1983-2021’, developed thanks to the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, to be held from 14 April to 12 May at the Institute’s headquarters.
The exhibition offers a tour among the most recent illustrations of Dante’s works, presenting to the public the works of five contemporary artisti, Tom Phillips, Monika Beisner, Mimmo Paladino, Emiliano Ponzi and Paolo Barbieri. A veritable journey into contemporary, multifaceted visual culture, full of formal charm and capable of offering new interpretative paths for the works of the Great Poet.
Curated by prof. Giorgio Bacci, with the collaboration of Marcello Ciccuto and Alberto Casadei, the exhibition has been organized by Art Media Studio in Florence.
The exhibition officially opens on Wednesday 14 April at 6.30pm, with the event being streamed live on the YouTube channel of theItalian Cultural Institute in Belgrade. The exhibition is open from 15 April to 12 May 2021, from 10 am to 7.00 pm, Monday to Friday. After Belgrade, the exhibition moves on to Athens, Prague, Moscow, Madrid, London and New York.
