The Embassy of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute of Jakarta present an online review entirely dedicated to the ‘new wave’ of Italian film: eleven films by some of the most promising and innovative directors of the contemporary scene, including Paolo Genovese, Massimiliano Bruno, Vincenzo Marra, Francesco Falaschi, and Giovanni Veronesi, and featuring top actors such as Paola Cortellesi, Alessandro Gassman, Valerio Mastandrea, Alba Rohrwacher and Vittoria Puccini.
Filmmakers and actors who in various ways have become heirs of Commedia all’Italiana (Comedy Italian Style), while at the same time creating an innovative, profound and highly original cinematographic and narrative style. Comic or tragic human stories, to discover today’s Italy through different perspectives, styles and themes.
The films will be available to stream on the Institute’s platform, in the original Italian with English or Indonesian subtitles. The review will continue until December 2021, following a schedule available at https://iicjakarta.esteri.it
