From 18 to 24 October, the Italian Cultural Institute of New York is taking part in the XXI Week of the Italian Language in the World entitled ‘Dante, l’italiano’ by offering a week of events produced especially for the occasion on their online platform ‘Stanze Italiane’.
As an exclusive preview, from 25 September the ‘Stanza di Dante’ will feature ‘Il suono di Dante’ (The Sound of Dante) by Mariateresa Sartori, a project created in collaboration with the Querini Stampalia Foundation.
The composition is based on the sounds of the Divine Comedy: Dante’s verses are recited through a method of dislocating consonants that shifts the attention from semantics to rhythm and sound. For the occasion, the pianist and composer Paolo Marzocchi has composed a piece of music that will be broadcast for the first time ever.
