A performance based on the musicality of the Divine Comedy: the Italian Cultural Institute of Moscow presents ‘Il Suono di Dante’ (The Sound of Dante), the project born from an idea by Mariateresa Sartori and curated by Chiara Bertola .
The rhythm of the tercets and the musicality of the stanzas of the poem undergo a process of transformation: the Cantos lose all semantic connotations and are left as pure sound. The Cantos will be played by Gustavo Frigerio, Elettra De Salvo, Savino Liuzzi, while Paolo Marzocchi will simultaneously compose a piece of music which will then played for cello, saxophone and percussion by three local musicians.
The event is also accessible to non-Italian-speaking audiences, as before experiencing the ‘transformed’ Canto, it is possible to listen to the reading of the third Canto of the Inferno by Vittorio Sermonti. A text translation is also available. At the end of the performance, there will be an opportunity to share with the audience in the hall.
