On the occasion of the 18th edition of the Day of the Contemporary, the Italian Cultural Institute of Washington, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy, presents “4 ELEMENTS”, a video-mapping and piano project created by the Italian visual artists of Imaginarium Studio and the Italian-Korean musician Sun Hee You.
The event, centred on the theme ‘nature and humanity’, constitutes a dreamlike journey divided into chapters dedicated to the four elements (fire, water, air and earth). The images, created with traditional techniques by Francesca Pasquinucci and digitally animated by Davide Giannoni, combine scientific, philosophical and legendary elements to explore the relationship between mankind and nature, reflecting on the progressive loss of environmental sensitivity. The performance is accompanied by music by Chopin, Casella, Liszt, Debussy, Vacchi and Hyung-Ki Joo, as well as by the sounds of gravitational waves captured by VIRGO and granted by EGO – European Gravitational Observatory, the interferometer and related international astrophysical laboratory near Pisa.
On the occasion of the performance in Washington, the show was enriched with an original piece specially composed by Davide Giannoni for videomapping on the outside of the Embassy.
