The Italian Cultural Institute of Stockholm invites you to the 24th edition of the Stockholm International Comics Festival, which this year hosts, among others, the designer and cartoonist Ilaria Gelli and the screenwriter Giacomo Masi.

After two years in which it could only be held digitally, the festival returns this year to its historic location, the Kulturhuset in Stockholm. From 20 to 22 May, international guests and local cartoonists will meet in the setting of the most prestigious festival dedicated to comics in Sweden.

On 21 May, Ilaria Gelli and Giacomo Masi will participate in a workshop for children aged ten to thirteen in the TioTretton children’s library and on 22 May they will present “GG – livet är ett dataspel”, the manga written by Giacomo and illustrated by Ilaria, published in Swedish by the Nosebleed publishing house and focused on the science fiction story of a group of girls who are passionate about video games. Publisher Natalia Batista moderates the meeting with the authors.

Ilaria Gelli (Florence, 1987) works as a cartoonist and illustrator, often inspired by the style of Japanese manga. In 2015 she drew the characters of the documentary film “Fukushima: a nuclear story”, about the nuclear disaster in the Japanese town. Since 2016 she has been working as a cartoonist at the Tatai Lab publishing house, which has also published her book “Canvas”.

Giacomo Masi started his career as a TV screenwriter in 2006, then moved on to the cinema and advertising sector, creating several highly successful campaigns and apps, focusing on gamification. He currently works as a screenwriter for the Tatai Lab publishing house and is the creative director of Leonardo Production. “Dry drowning”, the interactive visual novel created by Masi with Leonardo’s team, has won several awards and was nominated for best video game of the year at the Italian Video Game Awards 2020.
