Cuba has chosen an exceptional location to celebrate Italian Design Day 2021 : the new Centro ReDi in Havana, inaugurated to mark the day. The centre is housed in a prestigious building a few steps from the Plaza Vieja, the beating heart of Havana’s historic centre.
In the Cuban capital, the contribution of Italian architects to the urban landscape is evident, from the 17th century military fortresses to the Art Schools built in the 1960s.
The events related to Italian Design Day 2021 were organized by the Embassy of Italy in Havana in collaboration with the ICE Office. At the heart of the initiative are the exhibition of iconic objects linked to the history of Italian design and the conference on interior design, which was attended by the Italian architect Rosalba Romanelli. The video of the conference is available on the Embassy’s YouTube .
Finally, ICE Havana has awarded the winners of ‘Entre 3 paredes: hábitat abierto’ (Between Three Walls: Open Habitat), the competition for young Cuban designers, with a study trip to Italy at the next Salone del Mobile, to be held in Milan from 5 to 10 September 2021.
