The Italian Cultural Institute of Stuttgart will present a conference on 25 May on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Enrico Berlinguer.

Dr. Elisa Manca, a researcher at the University of Heidelberg and author of a study on the historic secretary of the Italian Communist Party, which analyzes his political language in particular, will accompany us in the memory of the famous statesman.

Enrico Berlinguer is an unforgettable figure of the Italian left, capable even decades after his tragic death of awakening a strong nostalgia even among those who did not serve in the ranks of the Italian Communist Party.

On the occasion of the anniversary, the speaker will reconstruct the main elements of the Berlinguer’s language, highlighting the elements of continuity and innovation with the communist tradition.

The meeting will explore the relevance of Berlinguer‘s legacy in the language of contemporary politics beyond the myth that surrounds him.
