The Italian Cultural Institute of Pretoria and the Centre for Creative Arts in Durban present on 14 and 15 October the play ‘Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea’ by the Italian theatre company Teatro Potlach, which will be staged for the first time in South Africa on the occasion of the Poetry Africa festival in Durban.
With their 30 years of creative genius in physical theatre combined with the latest digital and lighting technology and inspired by Jules Verne‘s novel, the actors are immersed in a magical, dreamlike atmosphere. They will lead the audience to discover the depths of the sea and Captain Nemo’s mysterious Nautilus.
Winner of numerous national and international awards, the show has been and continues to be appreciated in theatres and festivals around the world.
In addition to the show “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea” and thanks to the collaboration with the University of KwaZuluNatal, the Potlach Theatre company will be engaged in a series of workshops for students, artists and young people in Durban from 15 to 17 October.
