On 27 May the Italian Cultural Institute of Zurich will host a meeting with writer and journalist Angela Bianca Tragni, author of the book ‘Il mitico Federico II di Svevia’ (The mythical Frederick II of Swabia), with foreword and afterword by Franco Cardini, a famous Italian medievalist.
Critics have called the essay “the most beautiful biography of Frederick II” for its brevity, vividness and narrative brilliance.
The work was created above all to divulge the adventurous events of the great Swabian king and emperor but also to thrill the public of readers with a historical figure of considerable importance for Italy, Germany, Switzerland and all of Europe, which Federico dreamed of unifying under his sceptre.
He has been of great relevance in various sectors: from the idea of Europe to the question of language, his laws which were revolutionary for that time and the theme of his environmentalism ante litteram.
Angela Bianca Tragni has published books on history, fiction, tourism and cultural anthropology. She has also edited numerous history and art publications and has delivered historical-themed contributions at academic conferences in Italy and abroad. She holds the Gold Medal from the President of the Italian Republic for outstanding achievements in the field of culture and the arts.
