As part of the Giornata del Design Italiano nel Mondo (Italian Design Day), which is dedicated to the theme ‘Re-Generation. Design e nuove tecnologie per un futuro sostenibile’ (Re-generation: Design and New Technologies for a Sustainable Future), in collaboration with IN Residence Design, presents ‘IT Is: Tradizione, Invenzione, Condivisione e Responsabilità nel design italiano contemporaneo’ (IT Is: Tradition, Invention, Sharing and Responsibility in Contemporary Italian Design), an exhibition project curated by Barbara Brondi and Marco Rainò, which offers an in-depth look at the work of some of the most interesting designers on the contemporary Italian scene: Faberhama, Formafantasma, Roberto Sironi and Studio Ossidiana.
‘IT Is’ proposes a reflection on the concepts of tradition, invention, sharing and responsibility. The material on display can be accessed through an original format that combines the analogue and digital. Viewing the images is combined with listening to the words of the designers who have shared a few remarks on the themes under consideration for the occasion, outlining a path for discovering the richness of contemporary Italian design.
IN Residence is a non-profit cultural organization that carries out research in the field of contemporary design. Using design thinking as a tool for cultural and social innovation, the project supports creative talent through educational programmes. IN Residence’s activities take the form of themed workshops, designer residencies, exhibitions and publications.
Curators Barbara Brondi and Marco Rainò will present the project on 23 March in the Theatre Hall of the Italian Cultural Institute of Cologne. The exhibition will be open until 22 April.
