On 16 November 2021, the Italian Cultural Institute of Hong Kong presents, as part of the Italia Mia Festival 2021, streaming live on the YouTube channel of the LIS LAB Performing Arts Association, the documentary film of the project ‘Italia – Museo dell’Altrove’ (Italy, Museum of Elsewhere), directed by Ana Shametaj, followed by a conversation with the artists. The recording of the event will then be made available on the Institute’s YouTube channel until 31 December 2021.
Conceived and directed by Francesca Foscarini and Cosimo Lopalco,’Italia – Museo dell’Altrove‘ is a contemporary dance, performance and installation project on the themes of the contemporary museum and the relationship between architectural space and the body. The artists, through the exploration of Italy’s historical and cultural identity, were tasked with creating a unique “museum” where the living body, in its intrinsic irreproducibility, becomes a work of art.
The collection of works, exhibited and set up in the historic Villa Giulia in Verbania, explores Italian cultural history through various points of reference: the cinema of Pasolini and Fellini, the extraordinary art of Antonio Ligabue, Venice with its light, as well as Italian dialects and traditions.
The performance was complemented by the invaluable contributions of Chinese artists ErGao and Noel Pong. This meeting between Asian and Italian artists was made possible by the international project ‘Crisol – creative processes‘, supported by the Boarding Pass Plus special funding from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities.
The project is promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – Directorate General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation, in collaboration with the Directorate General for Entertainment of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, as part of the project ‘Vivere all’italiana sul palcoscenico’ .
