After the openings in Minsk, Florence, St. Petersburg, Kiev and Tashkent, the exhibition ‘ItaliAE. Dagli Alinari ai maestri della fotografia contemporanea‘ (ItaliAE: From Alinari to the Masters of Contemporary Photography) is opening in Chengdu, in the Wink Art Space (WAS). The Chinese leg of the exhibition was made possible thanks to the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing, with the organizational support of the Foreign Affairs Office of the city of Chengdu, the People’s Government and the Jinniu District Foreign Affairs Office.

The exhibition illustrates the charm and diversity of Italy, its landscapes, its creativity and its people through photography. A century and a half of history is on display in an extensive collection of photographs, creating a gallery of portraits and memories which bears witness to Italy’s rich variety of experiences and the extraordinary vitality of its photography at the same time.  An archive of 75 photographers – from the Alinari brothers, Giorgio Roster, Giovanni Crupi and Vittorio Sella to Franco Fontana, Paolo Spigariol, Gabriele Basilico and Antonio Biasiucci, just to name a few – who have each portrayed the Bel Paese in their own way and with the their own special interests in mind.

The exhibition will be open from 15 December 2021 to 29 January 2022, and is part of the ‘Road to 2022 – Italy – China Year of Culture and Tourism‘ programme of events and of the ‘Chengdu-Europe Culture Season 2021‘ review, for which Italy was chosen this year as a Guest of Honour.
