On March 23, on the occasion of the Italian Design Day in the world, the Consulate General of Italy in Istanbul, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), IED Rome and the Institute Bilişim Vadisi and under the patronage of the Italian Embassy in Ankara, organizes a day dedicated to the promotion of Made in Italy and Italian Design in Turkey.
Hosted by Rahmi M Koç Museum, a symbolic place for the regeneration of urban spaces, the initiative is inaugurated by the Ambassador of Italy in Ankara, Giorgio Marrapodi, the Director General of Bilişim Vadisi Institute, Serdar İbrahimcioğlu, the Director General of Rahmi Koç Museum, Mine Sofuoğlu, and the Design Art Director of IED, Giovanni Ottonello, and Professor Pinar Sipahi, Director of the Design Center of Bilişim Vadisi Institute and IED Ambassador to Turkey.
This year’s central themes, regeneration and technologies for a sustainable future, are addressed in a virtual dialogue between professor Alberto Iacovoni, Coordinator of the Postgraduate School at IED Rome, and Turkish architect Alper Derinboğaz.
Following the conference, Professor Valerio Paolo Mosco from Iuav University of Venice will chair a workshop on the theme of design and regeneration at Yıldız Technical University and Bahçeşehir University, at Atelye70 and Hasköy Wool Yarn Factory. will lead a group of students from the Faculty of Architecture of Yıldız Technical University in a workshop on the theme “Factories of Re-generation“.
In addition, IED’s Design Art Director, Professor Giovanni Ottonello, accompanied by Turkish weaving artist Fırat Neziroğlu and Architect – Designer Hülya Öz, will meet a group of students from the Faculty of Architecture and Design of Bahçeşehir University in a workshop entitled “Upcycling, Sustainability, Creativity”.
