The Italian Design Pavilion sees the public and private sectors join forces to digitally bring together 10 leading Italian design schools and associations, and is organised by the Consulate General of Italy in Hong Kong, supported by the Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong and powered by HERE Fashion Hub.

The event’s main goals are to present the excellence of Italian design education to the Asian audience, mainly targeting students and professionals, and to introduce some of Italy’s leading design associations and schools to Asian companies.

The Consulate General of Italy and HERE Fashion Hub are strongly committed to replicating and improving upon the experience of the 2019 edition of DesignInspire, aiming to further enhance Italian design education and culture abroad. With the entire world facing such difficult times, now more than ever the Italian Design Pavilion represents an international showcase, creating tangible business and networking opportunities for Italian post-secondary educational institutions and for Hong Kong’s community of students and designers.

Since the focus is on training and education, some of Italy’s most prestigious design schools, such as the Istituto Europeo di Design, Milano Fashion Institute, IULM – Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione, NABA Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, Scuola Politecnica di Design, LUM School of Management and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (ModaCult project), will be joining the Italian Design Pavilion to promote their unique courses taught in English.

The Italian Cultural Institute is also promoting the ‘Design Made in Hong Kong 2020-2021’ project. The cultural association ‘5Vie Milano’ will be holding a series of webinars on design projects developed by students from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Design Institute and Hong Kong Baptist University. The project is being curated by the design consultancy firm Mr. Lawrence, and will be presented at an exhibition in Hong Kong and at the Milan Design Week 2021.

The Italian Design Pavilion is part of the Italia Mia Festival.
