The Italian Film Festival Berlin is one of the most important events dedicated to Italian culture in the German capital. The Festival features a selection of ten Italian films from the latest film season, meetings with directors, actors, professionals and other events.
This year a photographic exhibition was held dedicated to the three major national and international productions that have chose Italy as their film location:
- The Young Pope by Paolo Sorrentino
- Catch-22 by George Clooney, Grant Heslow and Hellen Kuras
- Freaks Out by Gabriele Mainetti.
The focus of the project is on the shots of two of the most popular photographers of contemporary film: Philippe Antonello and Gianni Fiorito. The goal is to highlight the relationship between cinematographic art and photography, emphasising the ability of both to be a decisive tool for the development and promotion of the country.
On 19 June at 18:00 (local time) the Italian Cultural Institute of Berlin will present, together with the two photographers and Mauro Morucci, the preview of the photographic exhibition, the programme of the Italian Film Festival Berlin 2021 and the side events.
The preview will be available in June, during the days of the Berlinale, on the premises of the Embassy of Italy. The exhibition will then be shown in Berlin in October 2021.
