İTEF – Istanbul Tanpinar Literature Festival

Categories: Culture and creativity -Literature and Publishing
From Daria Bignardi to Susanna Tamaro, contemporary Italian fiction takes the main stage in Turkey.

The first novel is ‘The Love That You Deserve’, by Daria Bignardi on toxic family relationships recently translated into Turkish; this is followed by the adventure of a girl who, despite the war, trains for the Olympics without giving up, protagonist of the book ‘Don’t Tell Me You’re Afraid’ by Giuseppe Catozzella. And then the Medici dynasty (‘I Medici’) penned by novelist Matteo Strukul and ‘Una grande storia d’amore’ (A Great Love Story) by Susanna Tamaro.

A very full calendar of events for the second edition of İTEF – Istanbul Tanpinar Literature Festival, promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute of Istanbul, in collaboration with the Cepell – Centre for Books and Reading at the Italian Ministry of Culture. Given the success in 2020 of the first edition of the festival dedicated entirely to Italian authors and books translated into Turkish, the festival returns with the second edition, which will take place entirely online on the social channels of ITEF and the Italian Cultural Institute in Istanbul from 23 to 27 August 2021.

The Festival programme is as follows:

Mon 23 Aug 2021 – Daria Bignardi

Tue 24 Aug 2021 – Giuseppe Catozella

Wed 25 Aug 2021 – Matteo Strukul

Thu 26 Aug 2021 – Paola Peretti

Fri 27 Aug 2021 – Susanna Tamaro

The talks are available via Zoom, or live from the YouTube, Instagram and Facebook  channels of the Italian Cultural Institute of Istanbul and ITEF.
