On 3 December 2021, in the Carlo Scarpa Room of the MAXXI Museum in Rome, a new event will be held as part of the initiatives linked to ‘Universo Olivetti..Comunità come utopia concreta‘ (Olivetti Universe. Community as a concrete utopia), an exhibition by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, created in collaboration with the MAXXI Foundation and the Adriano Olivetti Foundation.
‘Universo Olivetti’ recounts the Olivetti project in all its aspects, dimensions and complexities, with the aim of reflecting once again on the pressing relevance of a figure such as Adriano Olivetti, as well as on the unique and innovative business model established around Ivrea – a city recently added to the UNESCO World Heritage List – between the 1930s and 1960s.
An essential part of the project is a photographic exhibition, curated by Simona Antonacci, entrusted to four important Italian authors: Luca Campigotto, Claudio Gobbi, Francesco Mattuzzi, and Valentina Vannicola. They were asked to interpret Ivrea and its heritage, both physical and intangible, with the aim of linking research and the story of heritage with a view to the future. The multi-voice conversation is therefore an exclusive opportunity to discover four author’s interpretations and to explore each photographer’s work in relation to this commission.
The meeting with the four photographers, moderated by Simona Antonacci, will be introduced by Margherita Guccione (Director of MAXXI Architecture), Beniamino de’ Liguori Carino (Secretary General of the Adriano Olivetti Foundation) and Giuseppe Pastorelli (Head of Office VIII, Promotion of Culture Abroad and Coordination of Italian Cultural Institutes, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation). Gaetano Di Tondo (VP, Director of Communications & External Relations Olivetti S.p.A.), the exhibition’s main sponsor and Marco Trombetti (Co-Founder and CEO Translated and Pi Campus), sponsor, will also participate.
