The Italian Cultural Institute of Montevideo is organizing a series of three seminars on the work of Leonardo Sciascia, an event that is part of both the celebrations for the centenary of the Sicilian writer’s birth and the 2021 edition of Fare Cinema, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s festival dedicated to promoting Italian film and its trades.
At the first event, on June 9, Professor Antonella Agostinis will present the Sicilian author’s work, focusing in particular on his novels and the theme of civil commitment.
In the second and third events, on June 16 and 22, the film critic Amilcar Nochetti will talk about the film adaptations of Scascia’s novels, including ‘We Still Kill the Old Way‘ and ‘Todo Modo‘ by Elio Petri, ‘The Day of the Owl‘ by Damiano Damiani, ‘Illustrious Corpses‘ by Francesco Rosi and ‘Open Doors‘ by Gianni Amelio.
The meetings will be held on the Zoom platform.
