Cinema is interested in Sicily because Sicily is Cinema – Leonardo Sciascia.
On the occasion of the first centenary of the birth of Leonardo Sciascia, the Italian Cultural Institute of Jakarta dedicates a series of events to the special bond that the Sicilian writer had with the seventh art.
- 26 May – ‘Leonardo Sciascia e il cinema’: an online discussion, with simultaneous Italian-Indonesian translation, between director Fabrizio Catalano, coordinator of the Leonardo Sciascia Foundation, and professor Antonio Di Grado, literary director of the Foundation.
- 25, 26 and 27 May – streamed in Italian, with English and Indonesian subtitles, two films inspired by Sciascia’s novels, Damiano Damiani’s ‘Il Giorno della Civetta’ and ‘A ciascuno il suo’ by Elio Petri.
