The Italian Cultural Institute of Edinburgh ensured the Italian participation in the important jazz music festival Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival, consisting of several complementary initiatives. The collaboration with the I-Jazz Association for the realisation of the programme ‘Spark – a celebration of Italian Jazz’, a series of 6 concerts by young musicians selected by I-Jazz as leading exponents of the new jazz generation, and the photographic exhibition ‘Jazz, the energy of the smile and friendship’ realised by the Association of Italian Jazz Photographers in the spaces of Valvona&Crolla for the entire duration of the event, was very successful. Lastly, for the entire month of July 2022, the Institute had the pleasure of hosting the artistic residency of trumpeter Daniele Raimondi for the AIR project in collaboration with MIDJ – Musicisti Italiani di Jazz, which featured numerous concerts within (and outside) the jazz festival programme, including those with Scottish artists Konrad Wiszniewski and Matt Carmichael.
