On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the death of Raffaello Sanzio, the Consulate of Italy in Belo Horizonte is organizing the exhibition ‘Magister Raffaello’ from 11 January to 27 February 2022 at Palacio das Artes, the second Brazilian venue after São Paulo.
The exhibition, realized in collaboration with the Clovis Salgado Foundation and Magister Art, takes the visitor on an unprecedented virtual journey to the Italian Renaissance, in order to discover the life and work of Raphael. Through innovative technologies which make a dialogue between sixteenth-century paintings and the world of multimedia possible, the exhibition curated by Claudio Strinati and Federico Strinati allows visitors to discover new details and revolutionary techniques used by the Italian painter.
The Magister Raffaello exhibition is part of the vast programme organized by the Consulate in recent years to promote Italian culture and art. The exhibition expresses the notions of beauty and elegance underlying Raphael’s Renaissance genius. Not only does this offer an immersive digital experience of the cultural heritage of our country, but it also provides a real opportunity to consider new tourism itineraries in Italy. – Dario Savarese, Consul of Italy in Belo Horizonte
The exhibition is divided into six themed areas with large screens featuring multimedia presentations that tell the story of Raphael’s works. Visitors will be taken on a journey that traces the personal and professional growth of the artist, up to an exploration of the cities where he lived and the works he created.
Visitor can find information, texts, videos and audio about Raphael in Portuguese, Italian and English, by downloading a specially created app onto their mobile phones. The exhibition also offers an educational route for young people and students.
