The Italian Cultural Institute of Amsterdam presents the musical theatre show ’Mi chiamo Italia’ (My Name is Italy), curated by Carla Regina.

Carla Regina, singer, actress and theatremaker, presents a musical theatre project, with lyrics and music, accompanied by live sketched illustrations. On stage, in addition to Carla Regina, will be the musicians Antonio Allemanno, on cello and double bass, and Emiliano Roca, on guitar. Stage prop by Michela Mazzeo and illustrations by Jennifer Lewis will complete the scene.

Mi chiamo Italia’ is a story about Italy, told by Italy itself, which, looking back at its rich, age-old life, describes some of its most prominent events, victories and defeats. A tale full of iconic references to our history and culture, one that will be very familiar to Italians or those who know our country well.

The story, as is customary in the artist’s theatre projects, is interspersed with musical passages from the Italian tradition, from Verdi to De André.
